The Cruise Charge Explained

Why the cruise charge?
When we sail, we have to employ a trained Skipper and a lock keeper. There is also the added expense of fuel oil and passenger ship insurance. We have to pay the Marine Safety office 2k pa, plus a cost of 15k for our annual MSO out of water inspection. Our engine and generators must be serviced every week and cruising creates a lot of wear on the motors and exterior paint finish. Waterways Ireland charge us for all the jetty utilities installations and charge us an annual fee For using the canal. We make our own electricity, store our water and waste and organise our quayside lighting, refuse and glass collection. That's why we have a €5 surcharge, its not profiteering, its just an expensive business... but its worth it.

We do require at least 10 passengers on our dinner services to make this cruise happen.
